By definition abuse is to treat or use something/someone in a negative way. It’s acts of violence usually caused by anger or frustration. You hear might hear it being used saying this person is being abusive or I was in a abusive relationship. Usually something is done about those, you can press charges or leave the person. For animals this is different. Animals don’t get to choose their owners nor have say in things, they are animals but, just because they are animals doesn’t mean that they don’t have feelings. When a dog is upset it will react in one of two ways, being aggressive or skittish. When an animal has become aggressive it’s more than likely because it has seen abuse, so when that person comes around it feels like it needs to protect itself. It’s like a human, if you see someone you are scared of you are either going to hide or fight them off if you need to. There are too many animals getting beaten to death, used in dog fights, or not being properly take care of. In my opinion if you took on the responsibility of a pet, it’s YOU that needs to make sure the animal is getting proper care. They didn’t ask you to bring them home and be put in a cage that’s too small or kicked. Even pets from retail stores are abused, but many people don’t know about it. Linked below is a YouTube video of abuse that animals go through before taken to a store.
